His practice covers contractual and debt recovery disputes, land and trust matters, insolvency, criminal defence, family matters, as well as complex jurisdictional conflicts between civil and Syariah courts.
Zaki graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons.) in 2011, followed by a Bachelor of Laws (Shari’ah) (LL.B.S) (Hons.) in 2012. He was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 17 May 2013, and subsequently pursued a Master of Comparative Laws (MCL) at IIUM from 2013 to 2014.
With over a decade of litigation experience, Zaki has acted for statutory bodies and financial institutions such as Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (MAIS), Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Bank Islam. He has obtained judgments in cases involving breach of contract, debt recovery, meter tampering, and insolvency proceedings, and has represented clients in land and trust disputes.
Zaki has also been involved in public interest litigation of national significance, particularly in matters concerning the intersection of civil and Syariah jurisdiction. He was part of the legal team in high-profile cases addressing constitutional questions, religious freedom, family law, and waqf (endowment), reflecting his ability to navigate sensitive and complex legal issues with both technical expertise and strategic insight.
Zaki is also a Peguam Syarie in Selangor (since 2016) and Negeri Sembilan (since 2020), where he regularly represents clients in Syariah court proceedings, particularly in matters of family law and inheritance. His ability to navigate both the substantive and procedural aspects of Syariah litigation enhances his versatility as a litigator across dual legal systems.
With a distinguished record in both trial and appellate work, Zaki is recognised for his strong advocacy, meticulous legal research, and effective trial management.
